Louisa Bir, founder of Imani Design, brings over two decades of experience in the design world, with a background that spans staging, construction, fixtures, finishes, and architecture. She is known for creating beautiful, sassy spaces with a seductive blend of her international life, classic British good taste (eccentricities included), and the vibrant traditions of the Caribbean.
Her global perspective, shaped by life and work in the British Virgin Islands, California, Florida, Nevada, the United Kingdom, the Bahamas, and the Dominican Republic, has informed a deeply personal design philosophy rooted in elegance, authenticity, and soul. Guided by intuition and fueled by passion, she curates environments that are both timeless and tailored, always grounded in her clients’ vision and a profound respect for place.
Deidra Ciolko, a seasoned entrepreneur and hospitality veteran, has called the Dominican Republic home for over 25 years. With a career spanning management roles in some of Santo Domingo’s premier casinos and as the founder of the beloved Gordito’s Fresh Mex in Cabarete, Deidra brings operational expertise, local insight, and a deep understanding of luxury service. Her work with the acclaimed Playa Grande Beach Club underscores her ability to deliver elevated guest experiences grounded in authenticity.
Together, Louisa and Deidra created Imani Design & Imports to simplify the process of sourcing high-end appliances, furniture, and home essentials for tropical living. Their collaborative approach ensures that every client benefits from personalized service, trade access, and seamless global logistics, delivering refined style and practical elegance to projects of any scale.
